Trenton Driver Earns Million Mile Award

Igor Sharoykin earns million mile award
Sometimes the simplest advice is the best.

Linehaul Driver Igor Sharoykin recently became the newest member of the New Penn team to receive the million mile award; surpassing the one-million-safe-mile mark. His simple advice to others who hope to accomplish that feat is nothing more than to “drive cautiously.”

Igor, who has been behind the wheel since 2000 and came to New Penn in 2003, says there’s no great secret to staying accident-free.

“No matter what the conditions are, drive cautiously and don’t be in a hurry,” Igor says. “When you ignore those simple rules, that’s when accidents happen.”

John McGraw, the Trenton Terminal Manager, has been with New Penn for less than a year and admits he’s still learning things about the company and his terminal. But he’s says one thing he didn’t have to learn was that drivers with safety records like Igor’s are great to have as part of his team.

“One of the reasons I’m here is to make sure that every driver understands our safety practices and procedures, and follows them every mile and every day,” John says. “That’s a message that Igor obviously already understands and puts into practice. We’re fortunate to have drivers with his commitment to safety.”

John encourages safety at his terminal with regular preshifts and safety meetings. His goal is to put everyone in Trenton is the best possible position to avoid accidents and injuries.

“We just want to make sure the drivers and everyone else in the terminal goes home safe every day.”
